Less is More Butterfly Cards - Barbara Lindsey DT Member

“Less is More” Butterfly cards

Sometimes I forget to use the gorgeous designer papers that I have. I get caught up in the stamping and matching dies, and it is only when I am finished that I realise my huge stash of gorgeous paper is still intact.  This weekend I set about changing that, so I set a personal challenge to make some cards using pretty papers and very little else.  For my focal images I selected some of the new Card Papers from Meg’s Garden which depict butterflies.  I chose matching cardstock to offset the designs and to add some interest.
To enhance my cards I used Stitched square and rectangular Dies.  All of my cards are similar in design, but each is also unique in its own way.
Card  No.1 – Shown next to original 6″ x 6″ paper.   I didn’t want to waste anything, so I also cut the lower butterfly to use inside my card.
Card I Megs card pack - Copy
Card No. 2 – Shown with original paper.  I added a 1/4″scored border around the outside of the layered pieces.  The feather was fussy cut from the same piece of paper.
Card 2 Megs Card packs Butterflies - Copy
Card No. 3 – I added more scored lines around the outside of the card. Card 3 Meg's Card Paclks Butterflies - Copy
All three cards together:
card 4 butterflies

The hardest part of making these cards was deciding on the shape and orientation in order make the most of the papers.  Butterflies are favourites for card makers and I think you will agree these are lovely with their soft pastel shades.
I hope you enjoyed this idea of ‘less is more.’
Items used:
  • “In the Watercolour Garden” S137 and S137-2 Paper packs
  • Stitched Dies
  • Cardstock: White, grey, taupe and tangerine
Happy Monday and Happy Crafting Everyone.

Creative Cards #1

Hello Bloggers

Card #1 - The focus is on the inside

The green card is fairly simple on the front.  The green cardstock is folded in half. A piece of florist ribbon is folded down the side 1.5cm from the edge; a Green Mauve Delphinium #40200  is added & a vintage trinket cut in half with a small piece of dodo vine tucked in for interest.

The green bead is to lead the recipient into the card.

The inside of the card is where the interest is.  The same green florist ribbon continues down the inside; a Vintage beauty is tucked into the ribbon along with a tag which is ready for journaling.  The other inside of the card has some ephemera as well as another tag for journaling.  Once the tags are journaled they can be attached.  The patterned papers used on the background are from the White Flowers on Green Paper Collection.

Vintage trinkets with a small pearl have been added for more interest

Card #2 - Focus is on the Front of the Card

Same papers, florist ribbon & Delphinium flower as Card #1; different ephemera, white cardstock as a base (could use green or cream),  skeleton leaves, fleur de lys vintage trinket to coalate with the French ephemera & a piece of green skeleton ribbon (folded in half) is placed on top of the florist ribbon.  The inside is plain with a simple ribbon as a pocket for the journaling tags

Hope these cards give you some ideas
Bye for now

Making cards using Meg's pretty Card Packs

Cards using Meg’s Garden “Rose Quartz” and “Watercolour in Blues” Card Packs

 D.T. Member Barbara Lindsey

Prize package 1 (1)
I really enjoyed these paper packs from Meg’s Garden, which are specifically designed for Card Makers.  They come in packs of 12 (2 of each design) 6″ x 6″ papers. Each one is truly pretty.
This is a card from the Rose Quartz collection: Finished card is shown next to the card pack.
Card 1
To begin I cut the 6″ x 6″ paper into three sections and glued them to a co-ordinating piece of cardstock. The design on the paper is a cherry blossom twig, so I punched out some small flowers from the left over pieces of paper and following the design on the paper,  placed the flowers along the twigs. I laid some ribbon trim down the vertical length of the card and trimmed off tiny flowers from the same ribbon to place in the centre of each punched flower.
My next card is from the “Watercolour in Blues” paper pack.
card 2
This is a really simple card to make as I used the beautiful design on the paper as the focus of the card. I matted it onto a piece of pale grey cardstock.  I stamped a verse and heat embossed it, then added a few tiny diamont√© to finish the card.
The front of my next card is also from the “Watercolour in Blues” Paper Pack:
card 3
Again quite a simple card to create allowing the design of the paper to be the focal point. I cut a small framed rectangle to one  side of my square card so that the selected portion inside the card would be exposed.
card 4
The paper used on the inside of the card comes from “In the Watercolour Garden” paper pack. So with the addition of the greeting and a few sequins and diamontes, my card is finished. I love the music notes on this paper collection.
I hope you enjoyed these cards and were inspired to have a go at making your own cards using pretty paper as your inspiration.
I have another two packs of these lovely papers to play with, and will do another post when I have more cards to show you.
If you have a moment drop into Meg’s Garden and see more of the gorgeous papers and other collections.

Wedding Day

Wedding Day

Hello everyone,
Leanne here with you today. I have created a scrapbook page that is simple and elegant using the stunning Lavande 12"x12" scrapbook patterned papers. These gorgeous patterned papers are in shades of purple, mauve & lilac.

I have fussy-cut around this lovely lace design and then adhered this to the top of my layout. Next I die cut a lace pattern shape in a lighter shade of patterned paper & adhered this to my fussy-cut piece. I have inked all of the papers with distress ink Milled Lavender.

Texture paste was applied to a stencil & allowed to dry before adding highlights to this area with glimmer mist spray & distress crayon. Next I applied some glitter glue for an added touch of glam & sparkle.

I have arranged my flowers to trail from the centre of the organza bow. I then added some seed beads to my floral bouquet to finish.

Please stop by Meg's Garden store for products used in this layout.

Until next time.
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a wonderful day & happy creating.

FRAMED HEART

Hello
Thank you for popping into Megs Garden  Blog
Annette here
Today I'm sharing with you a
 'FRAMED HEART'
created with papers from the
LAVANDE collection from
Purples, mauves, lilac & lavender are not colours I work with often
however this range certainly managed to get my creative juices working
The frame was a plastic one bought from a bargain store,
I painted with gesso, then rubbed with inka golds in purple & silver.
I fussy cut the floral heart & adhered it to a heart shaped doily,
A spray of flowers, a sprinkle of glitter, metal 'LOVE' title & a quote:
' the best & most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or
even touched- they must be felt with the heart.'
completed the framed work .

Whilst you are visited scroll through the previous posts & be inspired by the lovely creations from the Garden Girls

Happy Scrapping
